Building on the rich history of Jazz in Southeast Queens the Jamaica Jazz: Summer Concert Series presents Jazz soloists, duos, trios, and quartets Monday through Thursday, with larger ensembles on Fridays. All concerts will be free of charge.
The series principally draws on the strong local music community of Southeast Queens (many from York College) as well as regionally and nationally renowned acts on Fridays. The series will initially take place in four locations, five days a week, from July 7th to August 29th as outlined below.

Greater Jamaica Development Corporation received a grant from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund to present the concert series, through its Jamaica Alliance initiative. The concerts aim to simultaneously provide quality entertainment for the Downtown's lunchtime crowds as well as animate many of Jamaica's public spaces and improve peoples' perception about the area.
