Trained as a graphic designer, I turned to a visual arts based practice in 2000 as a more immediate, direct, and effective way of exploring issues related to individualism, communities and continually blurring the boundaries between art and life. Allan Kaprow stated: "The modernist practice of art is more than the production of artworks; it also involves the artist's disciplined effort to observe, engage, and interpret the processes of living, which are themselves as meaningful as most art, and certainly more grounded in common experience." In fact they are common experience. As in my previous professional undertaking, I prefer to work corroboratively. I use mutiple mediums and platforms to engage audience to participate and explore ideas about individualism, communities and continually blurring the boundaries between art and life. |
